Sunday Social

Sunday Social

To be honest, I do these so sporadically now - I won't even attempt to number them anymore. Read on! Today's Sunday Social questions are all about jobs!

1. What is your dream job?
I think I'm doing it. I am a stay at home mom, with a blog. I volunteer at my local library, advocate for my kids, & help others who are dealing with what I've gone through in life. Sometimes we struggle with bills, and those extra expenses that seem to always pop up, but ... if money was no issue, it'd be amazing.

Sunday Social 010

1. What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?

On July 4th, I took the kids to my parents' house. My mom ran in a marathon, the boys rode their bikes in a parade and Lilah snored. It was pretty fun, and even though it was a really long day for me, the smiles on their faces totally made up for it. Plus, I got these really great pics of the kids with their grandparents:

Sunday Social 008

This Weeks Questions:
1. What is something you've always wanted to do but are afraid of? Rock climbing. I mean, it looks cool and is a killer workout, but there's ... ya know that chance you'll fall and break your face in on a rock.
2. Where do you see yourself in five years? Hopefully with another degree, working hard and being super close to my MLIS.
3. What are you looking forward to before the end of 2013? Being hired at CoLAPubLib.
4. What are your hopes for your blog? For people to discover it, learn something and share it (the something more than the blog) with others.
5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city? Oh jeez. Let's friggen hope not.
6. What is your morning routine? Stumble out bed & to the bathroom, throw hair up in sloppy bun or braid, brush teeth, stumble out of bathroom. Feed & dress children. Wash face, apply mascara, grab backpacks, lead mini-army to car, drive to three different schools. Come home. Collapse on couch. Clean for therapy 15 mins before therapy.

Sunday Social!

Best Summer memory as a kid?
Would have to be the summer we went RV'ing/campsite hopping as a family almost all Summer. My kid sister and I played Garth Brooks' entire cassette until the ribbon burnt in half. We danced and probably drove our parents crazy as all you know what. Oh the Garth Brooks cassette? We begged for a new one ... Good times.

Valentines Day Theme
1. Best Valentines Day you've ever had:
I have never really had an over-the-top-nice Valentines Day. I had kids young and it's always been kind of kid-related. I would think the Valentines of 2006 was my favorite. We went to the movies. No interruptions, no weird looks from people. It was just a simple quick dinner & a movie, but that was the last time we actually had an official Valentine's Date alone.
2. Worst Valentines Day you've ever had:
This year. My husband was gone (not by choice) and he did wonderful things like send me a handwritten note via snail mail, write "I <3 Stormy" in snow and took a picture of it ... but I missed him. Not to mention: my daughter had RSV and I had to have "the talk" with my older son's principal about his attendance this year. I was out, all day doing Mommy stuff from 7a - 7p. I came home, did all the kids showers/bedtimes ... stuffed my face and fell asleep to Lifetime. Not horrible, but I missed my husband.

3. What did you do for Valentines this year?
Read the previous haha.

4. Best Valentines Idea if you’re single:
Pamper yourself. Whether that's a spa day, hitting the gym, or stay at home melting into a pint of ice cream over Lifetime ... treat yourself to "you time."

5. Favorite Valentines Candy?
Umm, the chewy Sweet Tart's hearts. Or the little sampler boxed chocolates with cremes like lemon, orange or strawberry.

6. Favorite Valentines Memory from your childhood:
Elementary school candy-grams and Valentines. I moved around a lot as a kid ... I wasn't like super popular, but I loved getting those little candies with a note attached. I loved the personalized, handmade ones the most. Funny how stuff like that sticks with you. I'm 25 and still love candy-grams. ;)

1. What was your first car?
My first official car, was actually Javis haha. When I drove it, it was a grey "primer" color, on rims with a system. When he drove it, it was burgundy and shone like a diamond. Yeah, I still miss it. It was small, low to the ground and I could control that sucker.

2. Who was your favorite childhood teacher?
Miss Williams & Miss Sherzinger of Cypress Elementary for Kindergarten and first grade. Middle school had to be the amazingly tall Mr Taylor, the softhearted Mrs Beck and the awesome Mrs Warner. High school, had to be Mr. Alexander, Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Stam. I loved a lot of teachers. School was my escape.

3. Were you involved in any sports/extracurricular activities?
Umm, yeah. My mom had us in almost whatever we asked for as kids. All my photo albums are in storage, but the list is pretty long. I played basketball, tennis, softball, soccer, and to be fully honest ... I kind-of-sort-of-in-a-way played around Happy Madison style with golf. I know there are more, and I will have to update the pics later. I know, tsk tsk.

4. What was your favorite birthday party?
My eighth. It marks my adoption, my new family. It was at Chuck E Cheese, and I thought I was the center of the universe. Little did I know that day would mark HUGE change in my life.

5. Who was your teen celebrity crush?
I am the worst person to ask. I have weird taste in celebrities. But umm, I wasn't really into teens. I liked a few of the guys in WWF (now WWE) at the time. Umm, Will Wheaton... but I also had a little infatuation with Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and Lisa Bonet. I know, you're laughing at me now haha.

6. What tv show/movie did your parents not allow you to watch?
I didn't really watch much tv growing up. We were too busy having fun and being kids ... I don't think I even had a favorite tv show until my mid-teens.

Sunday Social: 002

This one is "We're Getting Deep."

Yeah yeah. I'm pretty much a day late & a dollar short. Well, at least I think so. My grandma used to say that one all the time. Now, I actually get to use it. Here's my January 27th Sunday Social thingymabobber. ;)

Sunday Social

What is your ideal way to relax?
Ideally, my mom would take the kids to the park or whatnot while my husband and I cuddle up with some movie snacks and watch some television. Probably like Star Trek or something. Yeah, I know. Hush.
Where is your favorite place to be?
Hands down: my parent's house. I love their house. As a kid, it was easily the one and only place I ever felt like truly at home, safe and sound. As an adult, it's like a boost of energy in the form of an amazing house. My kids love it, and the big ol' lake in front. It's peaceful and amazing, and beautiful. This is a photo of them, with two of the boys in their front yard:

Who do you consider your biggest role model?
Well, it's always been a mix of role models. Like, I have always had people looking out for me, showing me right from wrong. In childhood, it was mainly my mom, even if we didn't really see eye to eye on things. She never let go. As an adult (and a mom) I still go to her for a lot of things. She's been a major consistent in my life. I'd say my sister, Misty has played a huge part in who I am too. She has taught me (by example, mainly) that it's okay to be angry, or upset, or hurt - but it really hurts no one but yourself to fly off the handle and become bitter. She's also shown me a lot in the ways of forgiveness, step-parenting, and "putting my work face on." So, my mom and my sister.
What does your life look like in 3 years?
Good question. I could line out all these plans for you all, but I'd be pissed if I came back in three years and I hadn't accomplished any of them. I'd probably be good with some general things like "down more than a few pounds," but in all actuality, nothing is set in stone. Not even location. =/ I kinda don't like that. At all.
If you could go back and change one decision what would it be?
I can't. If I change one thing in the past, my entire future would change. It wouldn't work. No matter what. All my mistakes and circumstances brought me to this day. Cheesy, but whatever.
What is your biggest accomplishment in life thus far?
Being a mom. I always wanted kids, and it's always been kind of a part of me. But having my kids with me, and doing all the mom stuff? It's my life.
